McCain Blasts President Trump For Transgender Ban In A Way That Would Make Nancy Pelosi Proud

Senator John McCain claims that he is a Republican, yet ever since President Trump was elected he has done all that he could sabotage the Republican Party. He now famously made the deciding vote in favor of Obamacare. Now he made a statement against President Trump’s transgender ban that any Democrat would be proud of.

“It would be a step in the wrong direction to force currently serving transgender individuals to leave the military solely on the basis of their gender identity rather than medical and readiness standards that should always be at the heart of Department of Defense personnel policy,” wrote John McCain in a statement.

“The Pentagon’s ongoing study on this issue should be completed before any decisions are made with regard to accession. The Senate Armed Services Committee will continue to conduct oversight on this important issue,” said McCain.

Mattis is reviewing the best ways to implement the ban. “In the interim, current policy with respect to currently serving members will remain in place,” said McCain. McCain’s statements against President Trump are surprising given how against Obama he was for putting the transgender rules in place to begin with. It appears it is all about politics for McCain.

“Distractions cost Marines’ lives….Marines come back after serving in combat and they say, ‘Look, anything that’s going to…potentially break that focus and cause any kind of distraction may have an effect on cohesion.’ I don’t want to permit that opportunity to happen…. I’ve heard from thousands of active-duty and retired military personnel… and they’re saying, ‘Senator McCain, it isn’t broke, and don’t fix it,’” said McCain in 2010 when he opposed Obama’s transgender bill.
