Recently on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) proceeded with her campaign against President Donald Trump in the wake of previous Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea, stating that Trump’s impeachment is inevitable.
“I think it’s going to be hard for the Republicans to continue to be silent and standing with this president as it unfolds,” Waters stated to host Joy Reid.
“This is the tip of the iceberg. There’s lots more to come. And I think it’s going to lead right to not only collusion, obstruction of justice, money laundering. It goes on and on and on.”
Waters continued, “We are at a point in time in the United States of America with a president who is involved in all kinds of things that would shock people, I do believe.”
“So, I know that I’ve been calling for impeachment. I know I’ve been criticized, but I know everything that I have learned about him and his allies, their interest in lifting the sanctions, their connection to Putin, their connection to the Kremlin — I know that we are going to find that this president needs to be impeached.”
She also said: “Let me just say this — I have learned over the years that I have been in this business that there are few people who are willing to speak truth to power and to talk about what really is bothering our society and our democracy. It is not thought well of to step outside of that box.
“When I talk about impeachment, I described what I think about this president. I think he is deplorable. I think he defined himself in the campaign, the way that he mocked and mimicked a disabled journalist, the way he talked about grabbing women by their private parts, the way he called names of his peers.”
“I think that is unacceptable. For people to allow this kind of behavior to be normalized is beyond what I believe our democracy should be all about.”
